Cartesian motion systems

Choose a layout for the workpiece path

Cartesian gantries combine linear axes for X, Y and, where required, Z motion. Compare the example layouts by their frame, axis arrangement and drive type. A single-axis module rating does not become a gantry-system rating.

Prepare a reviewable system brief

Define pickup and delivery points or process stations, per-axis travel and load, the tool or gripper, target cycle, mounting space and operating environment. Review one proposed layout with its own drawings and technical values.

What to confirm for this system

Cartesian gantries combine linear axes for X, Y and, when the job needs height motion, Z. The examples below show different mechanical layouts and drive arrangements.

Map the workpiece path, then specify travel, load, speed and positioning needs for each axis. Include the tool and available mounting space.

Cartesian motion systems

Cartesian (gantry) positioning systems assembled from HTROBOT single-axis linear modules. Each axis is chosen from the common-environment families (MF, MD, MT) or the dustproof families (MY, ML, MC), with ball-screw or belt drive, to suit its stroke, load and working environment.
